Profile:

Wang Hongyang, a student majoring in accounting in the 2019 foundation program of International College(IC), Xiamen University (XMU). During the study period in IC, she studied hard with outstanding English ability, and top professional performance. Not only did she achieve double A grades in GU, but he also made full use of his spare time to study and passed the first eight course exams of ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). Besides studies, she has a good team spirit, is willing to help others, actively promotes group tasks, participates in various public welfare activities, and serves as a volunteer for the school's Double Ninth Festival, Centenary Celebration of XMU, and caring for marine life. With good work quality and social responsibility, she was named "SQA Student Ambassador" in 2022.

 I came International College for the 3+1 program, which in the first three years, I studied in China, and the courses of each major were set in strict accordance with the requirements of foreign universities. When I went abroad to study in the fourth year, I could quickly adapt to the foreign teaching mode and achieve the desired results. Of course, compared to studying abroad as a freshman, this program can save a lot of money.

During the three years of studying in China, the serious and responsible attitude of the teachers and their professional teaching ability reassured me. Most of them have overseas study experience and rich experience in studying abroad. They can give us good guidance in daily study and college selection. When we are about to go abroad in the junior year, we will also have special teachers and weekly guidance lectures to answer our questions, help us analyze the situation of each study abroad institution, remind us of tips for studying abroad, etc., to ensure that we can study abroad safely and securely.

Steady Improvement in English

International College has a good English learning atmosphere, which helps us to continuously improve our English. Before I came to International College, I had never been exposed to IELTS, and I thought it would be very difficult to study, but through the systematic study of the freshman year, under the careful and professional guidance of the teachers, I gradually got 6.5 points in the IELTS test from zero basis, witnessing my growth step by step.

In the second and third year of professional courses, our textbooks and various learning materials are consistent with foreign study, and they are all in English, which allows me to maintain sufficient English proficiency and vocabulary accumulation for studying abroad and laid a solid language foundation for studying abroad.

The various gains in learning are inseparable from daily efforts and persistence. When preparing for the IELTS test, I would record and practice a piece of unfamiliar oral expression at least ten times with my cell phone; in the study and preparation of GU1, I will organize my notes in an orderly manner, think actively and check the study materials in time, so as to well prepare for the test. When I first came into contact with ACCA, I had just started studying accounting. Fortunately, I was full of momentum and fearlessness. Through the recommendation of Ms. Liu Jiali, I met senior schoolmate Zhu, and with the help of Zhu, I officially started the way to the ACCA. My successful pass of the first eight exams of ACCA is inseparable from the guidance of teachers and the help of schoolmate Zhu, and I am really appreciated their help.  In learning, it is important to study hard and find ways to learn, but it is also important to communicate with teachers and senior schoolmates.

In my spare time, I actively participate in various meaningful activities. As a volunteer, I participated in the Double Ninth Festival honoring the elderly activities to send warmth and blessings to the retired teachers of Xiamen University; I also actively participated in the International Beach Cleaning Day activities. Under the scorching sun, I cleaned up the garbage on the beach with my friends. After the tourists saw it, they also joined our team and contributed to the cleaning of the beach. During the centenary celebration of Xiamen University, I actively joined the reception team of the college and sent warm greetings and thoughtful service to the returning alumni. These practical activities not only enriched my campus study life, but also added a lot of luster to my university time.

Graduation is around the corner, I am very reluctant to depart from my classroom, dear teachers and friends. Here, I am very grateful to the teachers of International College for their help and guidance in life and study, so that I can continue to grow, surpass myself, and become more confident and excellent in the past three years.

I also hope that after coming to International College, the fellow students can set goals for themselves and strive for them as soon as possible, take every exam and challenge seriously, and meet the best self you want to be in the process of continuous changes and breakthroughs.
