Mr. Martin Sedgley, Head of the International Study Center, Bradford University, and Mr. Ding Lei, Manager of the Office of China and East Asia, came to the International College and held a lecture at the B213 Classroom at Kun Luan Building on March 16^th,2017. The lecture provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn more about the University of Bradford.

University of Bradford

At the beginning of the lecture, the teacher shared the location, development history and the general situation of the Bradford University with the students after making a simple self introduction. Bradford University was founded in 1832, is a comprehensive public university with a long history in UK. In 1966, under the British Royal Charter, the school officially changed its name to Bradford University, becoming the 40th university in the UK. Harold Wilson, the former British Prime Minister, was also the founding director of University of Bradford. In addition, the University of Bradford was the first university in the UK to offer a degree in peace studies, the first one to set up a modern business school, and the first one to run part-time courses except the London area. The school has more than 13,000 undergraduate and graduate students from more than 130 countries. 18% of the students are international students, including 400 students from China.

Next, Ding teacher communicated with students in terms of the school docking professional, admission requirements, tuition and scholarships. He said that the business school of Bradford was a very good choice for students of HND program in our college. Its business school is very strong in the UK. Its ranking in the Financial Times is Europe 42, UK 11. And the school is one of the few (no more than 1%) of the business schools in the world that has acquired triple authority certification, AACSB, EQUIS, EMBA, for business schools. In addition, the proportion of graduates who majored in international business management, accounting and finance, business management, human resources, marketing obtaining second and first degree is over 70%. Finally, it is worth mentioning that Bradford University has established close relationship with world well-known enterprises, such as ASDA, BBC, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, so the students will have the opportunity to get an internship. Therefore, University of Bradford is a popular choice for students who wish to have a good job planning.

Bradford University Business School acquired AACSB, EQUIS, EMBA triple authority certification

Subsequently, Mr. Martin Sedgley, Head of the International Study Center at the University of Bradford, explained the language requirements of the school. Students who have got IELTS with an overall score of 6 with a minimum score of 5.5 in each module can be admitted directly, and the students who have got IELTS with an overall score of 5.5 with a minimum score of 5 in each module will be required to attend pre-sessional courses for six weeks, and for those who have got IELTS 5.5 with a minimum score of 5 in each module will be required to attend language classes for 10 weeks. In addition, Mr. Martin Sedgley pointed out that the students planning to study in the UK may encounter some problems, but the International Learning Center will provide academic support resources, such as free Induction curriculum, Effective Learning, student academic adviser.
