On the evening of December 26, The International College Final English Speaking Competition was successfully held in the lecture hall of Tan Kah Kee Building 3 on Zhang Zhou campus of Xiamen University. Professor Zheng Tongtao (Dean of Overseas Education College and The International College), Lv Zixuan (Deputy Dean),Wu Weiping (Deputy Secretary of Party General Branch),Huang Guanhua (Office Director) and all the teaching faculty were invited to watch the competition. Adam Moran (Foreign teacher), Yang Xu (English teacher), Xu Wenyan (English teacher), Feng liqi (English teacher) and Yang Shuai (Major Course teacher) were invited to be the judges. 

In the opening speech presented by Professor Zheng Tongtao, he mentioned the great significance of English learning and hoped more English competitions could be organized. 

The theme of the speech competition was The Greatest Invention in My Eyes and 22 contestants showed their fluent English in two rounds of prepared speech and QnA. Contestant No.9 Wang Yiming from Dublin Program of year 2011 won the first prize with the final score of 88.06. In the first round of prepared speech, he made a coherent speech of Mr. Book, The Greatest Invention in My Eyes with excellent stage performance. In the second round of QnA, his calmness, quick thinking and smart response have won himself several rounds of applause.

In the closing speech, Professor Zheng Tongtao showed great appreciation for the outstanding performance of all the contestants and hoped that more students could join in future English competitions.
