Introduction: Lin Weiting, studied at No.6 High School in Xiamen and enrolled into the foundation to master program in XMU International College after graduation; entered the senior year in the University of the West of Englandas an accounting and finance major with straight-A and was awarded scholarship in 2009; graduated from the University of the West of England with 2:1 and was qualified to enroll in master’s courses in 2010; did an internship at the financial department of Xiamen International Bank in July, 2010; enrolled in postgraduate courses as a financial management major at the University of the West of England in September, 2010; currently preparing for her final paper.

Q: Why did you choose to study at XMU International College after graduating from high school?

Lin: We’ve entered an international and diversified world. XMU International College is a platform connecting the outside world. It provides reliable channels for students who are determined to study abroad via developed teaching mechanism.

Q: What gains have you got during three-year study at the college?

Lin: It helped me lay a firm foundation before going abroad. English-taught classes helped me get used to the English-speaking environment. Patient and experienced teachers were of great help for us.

Q: What’s most impressive about the University of the West of England? Can you introduce your major?

Lin: The commercial college of the University of the West of England is located near the city of Bristol. The university is equipped with computer room provided for free. The design of the library is very humane. It has public discussion area and individual rooms for private discussion for group work. The multimedia tools in the classrooms are also advanced. It’s worth mentioning that the electronic library contain a huge number of books and magazines which is a treasure for us to write academic papers.

All professor and other faculty members are very nice to students and are very willing to answer our questions. My Bachelor’s degree was in accounting and finance, and my Master’s Degree is in business management. They are all science-oriented majors and in connection with ACCA accreditation.

Q: Can you well adapt to the life in the UK?

Lin: Bristol is a delicate and attractive small city with peace and serenity. I’m happy to have selected here, so I decided to stay for my Master’s Degree without hesitation. The biggest challenge living abroad is to encourage yourself to communicate with others. Secluding yourself is not going to help you blend in with the environment. I can now deal with all my daily needs. It’s satisfying to see myself grow.
