On September 10, 2020, International College welcome the freshmen from all over the country. On the welcoming scene, all the new students consciously wear masks and line up in order. Compared with the bustling scene in the last year, this year the atmosphere is a bit of calm and orderly.

Under the guidance of the epidemic control and prevention work, International College extend the registration time for the new students to control the flow and pace of new students entering to school. After arriving Zhangzhou Campus, all the students enter through the central gate, check their identity and measure their temperature, and then took the bus to the dormitory park to register. Temperature were measured again before entering the dormitory park, and it is strictly required that the new students can only enter the school by themselves.

There’s no the accompany of the parents, but we have enthusiastic senior schoolmates as volunteers to help and guide the new students. International College also hired porters to deliver the luggage to students’ dormitory.

In order to ensure the smooth, orderly and safe enrollment of the new students during the period of epidemic control and prevention, International College made full and comprehensive preparations, held several special meetings to deploy and arrange the specific tasks for welcoming the new students. Before the new students’ registration, the college established new students QQ groups to facilitate timely communication of relevant policies and notices, and organize all the new students to punch in the daily health report online and fill in their health status.

On the day of welcoming the new students, the class counselors led the student volunteers to set up service points in Terminal 3, Terminal 4 of Xiamen Gaoqi Airport, Xiamen Railway Station and Xiamen North Railway Station to guide the new students to school. At the same time, the staffs and volunteers are arranged to each school gate, baggage point and dormitory area on the campus. The members of each post keep smooth communication to ensure that the registration of the new students is carried out in an orderly manner.

The welcoming slogans and banners on the main road of the campus, teaching buildings and dormitory areas, as well as the posters and signature background boards created a strong and warm atmosphere for the new students. The security staff in uniform direct vehicles at major intersections on campus, and ensure smooth traffic.

At the registration place, the teachers of International College handled the registration procedures for the new students carefully, handed out student cards and epidemic prevention supplies on the spot, informed them the activities after enrollment, patiently answered the questions raised by the new students, and helped them complete the registration process.

Professor Tao, Dean of International College, Wang Yi, secretary of the CPC International College, and Chen Xiangliu, Deputy Secretary of International College visited the registration points and new students’ dormitory respectively and patiently inquire about the welcoming work and the registration status and dormitory situation.

Volunteer guide the students

The volunteers rushed around the campus. “We got up early in the morning at 5:30, and went to Zhangzhou Campus from Xiang’an Campus.” said a volunteer who’s responsible for counting the luggage. “The moment seeing the first batch of new students recalls my registration day in the last year. Hope all the new students cherish the precious time,” said a volunteer who sent the student cards and guide students at the registration point.

In the afternoon heavy rain washed away students’ fatigue after the journey. “The campus in the rain has a special charm. It’s pretty!” said Zhang, a new student from Shandong Province after finishing the registration procedure.  The clear sky turns into heavy rain in the blink of eye.  “The heavy rain is kind of way to wash the dust,” he said with smile

It’s International College’s tradition to invite the new students their first meal on the campus. The new students will receive a meal ticket when registering, with which they can dine in the canteen. This makes every new student who comes from far away deeply felt the enthusiasm and care of the college.

On the night of Sep,10, the 2020 new students basically completed the registration procedures in time, and the welcoming work has successfully concluded with the cooperation of the teachers and students of the whole college. The college will organize series of new student orientation activities to help them adapt to the study and life on the campus as soon as possible. May all the new students uphold the glory and dream of International College, set sail and ride waves in the college.
